- Be acquainted to the aims of several manual therapies from a didactic and experiential perspective

Course Description
Complementary medicine is the use of alternative methods in conjunction with mainstream western medicine in the treatment of a variety of
medically and behaviorally based disorders. Nearly 40% of all Americans use alternative medicines as a form of primary or secondary
treatment. Therefore, it is expected that many people who seek voice therapy will also use complementary treatments. This workshop will
explore several manual therapies, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness meditation, and the use of holistic medications in the treatment
of voice disorders. The participant will benefit from understanding the theoretical basis proposed for these therapies and a hands on
experience with several of the therapies.
